The Keepers

Image
“The Keepers!" is the mystery of the murder of Sister Cathy. Sister Cathy was a well-loved, 26-year-old nun who was murdered in Baltimore. This docuseries interviews people close to Cathy, who also wonders why she was murdered in the first place. As this is a docu-series, the camera angles are all over. Whether the interviews are close-ups, and the reenactments of the crimes are wide far shots, the first episode is filled with gut-wrenching scenes making the viewer want to watch more. Following the journalist Tom Nugent, there is a lot of casual filming of individuals walking around and casually talking about this insane story. The story started with a former student on Facebook, and a lot of shots are a vlog. The videos seem homemade and are more personal making it a classic docuseries. I would put this series in more of the montage category overall, as there is so much information that needs to be shown, not leaving time for a lot of long shots.  The filming is very average when...

Psycho!

Image
“The Shower Scene '' from the film Psycho premiered in 1960 starring Janet Leigh as Marion Crane and Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. This particular scene is one of the most famous scenes in cinema history. Filled with jump cuts, this black and white film has the most intense point of view, and pretty bad acting but is curated super artistically. To start, the shot opens up with the toilet flushing and Marion has her back to the door while the camera moves with her to close it. She takes off her robe and walks into the shower as this is the first jump cut. She closes the shower curtain with just her silhouette showing as a foreshadowing for later in the scene. The next shot is a connecting jump cut that starts on one end and ends with her standing up to turn the shower head on. Continuing the rest of the scene is a long montage of different angles with the music intensive for when she gets stabbed. The rhythmic flow of the video has a light feeling without any suspicion unti...

Falling for Christmas- Lindsey Lohan

Image
Lindsey miss Lohan. Falling for Christmas has premiered on Netflix this past week starring Lindsey Lohan and Chord Overstreet. Already, this film has received an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.5/10 on IMBD. Lindsey Lohan has been on a hiatus for almost 10 years now making this her debut back to the big screen and I am SO excited to her in more things. Falling for Christmas is about a newly engaged heiress who gets in a horrible ski accident and develops amnesia. She ends up in a secluded lodge where she meets the new love interest. Horrible plot, but its Lindsey!!!!! The acting is bad, the graphics and movie is not great, but it is a great, classic Hallmark film to watch on a snowy day.  I remember being little and obsessed with Lindsey Lohan and everything sh was in so this is such a huge moment for me to see her again on my TV, even with her lip injections. Netflix has continued to premier endless Christmas movies every year with their collection getting bigger each season of rea...

Why wouldn't you want a women directing? a poem

Why wouldn't you want a women directing? We are emotional are we not?  So men have no emotion. All movies in that case directed by men are emotionless with no connection. We clean up after you, do we not?  The mistakes of directing that men have made of the harassment, abuse and inappropriate behavior in the directing atmosphere. We are used for sex are we not? If this is the case, sex scenes are going to be based on us and objectified on what we do to you, the men. Your bodies subjected, and the revenue bringing in from 15 minute long segments of your bareness. Is that what you want? Do you like to be subjected to the audience? Do you think we can't take but what you have done because we are just 'women.' Why wouldn't you want a women directing? *Based on in-class of the male-gaze*

Love is Blind (Spoilers) Why I think Cole is innocent

Image
So, this is a hard take to pursue. I do think in Love is Blind season three there is a lot of wrong, and this is  can come across anti-feminist when it is not. This is based on the footage given on the TV show. Love is Blind season three showcases a couple Cole and Zanab.  Cole (27) is the brother of a former cast member from season 1. He is formally divorced and proposes to Zanab without seeing her first.  His personality was loved by many of the girls, and he had his eye on a few including Colleen, a 26 year-old ballet dancer. She confessed her feelings for Cole as he turned her down and proposed to Zanab instead. Zanab said yes and they were engaged without meeting each other in person. Zanab (32) is from London, England and was one of the girls in the pods of Love is Blind. Zanab was known for her bright personality, intelligence and was extremely well spoken during the season. She got engaged to Cole and the two of them moved in together. From the beginning, th...

Enola Homes

Image
ENOLA HOLMES Oh my god. This series is so beautifully done and amazing. Enola Holmes, first film in 2019, second premiered last week stars Milly Bobby Brown as Enola, Louis Partridge as Tewksbury, and Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes. Enola is the sister of Sherlock Holmes and is on a quest to find her lost mother. On her sixteenth birthday, Enola woke up to find her mother no where to be found. The only thing she left was a gift for Enola filled with clues for where she might be. Calling her brother, the quest is on to avoid boarding school and go to London to find her mother.  Milly Bobby Brown is known for her starring in Stranger Things and numerous other films as she has grown up over the years. I have not seen her work recently, and this sparked a new obsession of watching her films. My partner and I binged watched both movies and fell in love. The sets were made so beautifully, in-person and CGI. The films is set in the 1884 England with elaborate costumes and outfits, ...
