Why Adam Sandler Movies are Superior

Adam Sandler. I will stand here and defend that Adam Sandler movies are superior. And I will rank them right now of my top five movies of Adam Sandler.

#5 Jack and Jill (2011)

Jack and Jill are seriously one of the worst/best movies. I mean it is god awful but so funny to watch I have seen it so many times. The premise of the movie is simple, Adam Sandler plays both Jack and Jill, twin siblings. Jill lives alone after their deceased mother, and Jack is married and successful with a wife and kids. Jill comes and stays with Jack and the movie goes on with Al Pacino cameos, and vulgar, hilarious dialect. I would rate this movie as my number five due to how bad but good it is. Like, it is sometimes unwatchable, however, it is one of those movies you can watch and know you will laugh at. Sometimes you need one of those movies in your queue.

50 First Dates (2004)

50 First Dates starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore star in the romantic comedy of Henry meeting his dream girl, Lucy. Lucy has a brain injury where she forgets the past day when she wakes up in the morning, so Henry makes an effort to be there every new day for her. This movie is not only comedic, but also so beautiful and sweet of a story to love someone so much, that you would try every day for someone to not know you, and fall in love with you again and again. This film is emotional, and one that I cry to every time I watch it. It is written well, delivered perfectly, and is a great rom-com for a night in.

#3 Bedtime Stories (2008)

Bedtime Stories starring Adam Sandler, Russel Brand, Courtney Cox, and Keri Russell. Adam Sandler, character Skeeter Bronson, works at a hotel where he needs to take care of his niece and nephew while their mom goes on a trip. Skeeter grew up in the hospital as it was originally owned by his father. Meeting Keri Rusell’s character, Jill, the kids' teacher, Skeeter falls in love. The kids get a bedtime story every night that turns into real life for what happens to Skeeter. Again, the movie is comedic, but it was one of the first movies that I truly loved growing up, and still watch as a family.

#2 Hustle (2022)

Hustle, starring Adam Sandler and Juancho Hernangomez follows Sandler’s character as an NBA scout who needs to find the next big star when he comes across Hernangomez’s character, Bo Cruz. This is probably one of the few serious movies that Adam Sandler has made and starred in. I was a bit weary and unknown as to what to expect of what the movie would be like, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well done it was. It was a Netflix-only movie, but I think it would have done quite well if it was before covid times in a theater.

#1
Grown Ups (2010)

This is the best movie ever made. That’s all.

  1. Nicely compressed plot summaries! Can you say more about why these are so great? Can you engage some of the course material to frame up your analyses? Thanks!
