La Jetee

Very interesting for sure.

The film opens up with a young child watching a man get shot and killed. Shocking, horrific for the child, it fast forwards to scientists finding a way to go back and save the future. Using a prisoner, they decide to test the time travel on him. With a lot of the fourth wall breaking, this film felt a bit like a psychological thriller when the man killed at the beginning was actually himself.

These movies I find so interesting to me. As someone who does abstract art, that is what psychological thrillers remind me of. Do you have to go down a rabbit hole online and find yourself at some article and photo and be like, how did I end up here? You got there through something that connected with one another, and if you were to rewind it would be a jumbled mess, but can be taken into individuals differently depending on how you look at it.

La Jetee, a voice over narration, seemed like it delved into the director's mind of an idea that continues to unfold leaving so much information at the end to wrap up and be like, what did I just watch?

The narration along the movie was a lot of words, and I think could be taken differently each time it is watched. For me, I have a hard time paying attention to very wordy films, and I can rewatch a movie and it seems like a different movie to me. La Jetee I feel is one of those for me where I might need to rewatch in the future.

Overall, I did enjoy this film. Again, I would like to watch it more closely next time, but it was a super clever story and with an ending I was not expecting.
